Book Review

In Beyond Belief, Josh Hamilton explained the story of his life. It illustrated his on going drug addiction and his strength to come back to playing major league baseball. Through out the book, it continuously showed many life lessons of how drugs can change any person dramatically to the point where they don't know who they are.
The book begins with a long description of Josh Hamilton's childhood. Josh was disciplined as can be by always obeying his parents orders. Josh also always had a close relationship with his parents. His parents would go to every practice and every game and when Josh went to the minors, his parents even traveled with him. This strong bond later on was able to be broken by drugs. His four year drug binge changed his relationship with his parents. Josh stopped talking to his parents all together which caused Josh to not know who he was. A key part to illustrate this in the book was when Josh was at his grandmothers house. His grandmothers house was the setting of rock bottom for Josh. It is there where he realized the pain that he caused to many people. He didn't know who he was and why he was doing this and that's why he had to change.
Beyond Belief represented the dramatic changes due to drug addiction. It illustrated Josh Hamilton's  sufferings through drug addiction and the changes that he encountered. The book lastly explained the change in a persons view of themselves due to drug addiction.
